Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum - Product Rave!

Hi guys! I’m back with another beauty post, and let me tell you, it’s a gooden!

As part of their French Pharmacy Month, the lovely folks over at Escentual sent me the new Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum to try. I haven't tried a serum before. To be honest, I was sceptical. I thought a serum would make my combination skin even oilier. I also wondered how much moisture it could really add compared to using my usual moisturiser alone.

Having used this for a week I can honestly say I’m in love and genuinely don’t see myself ever being without it. I skipped using it for one evening and one morning consecutively and noticed such a drastic difference. I looked terrible. Dull. Tired. Dehydrated. Not a good look.

The product itself comes in a lovely glass bottle with a convenient pump. It isn't oily or greasy, just fresh and hydrating. It sinks in really quickly and damn, it feels good - luxurious even. The serum has a very light fragrance which I really liked, no wildly overpowering scents here. After you have applied the serum you apply your usual moisturiser over the top. Lately I’ve been using Olay Beauty Fluid.

I should also mention that it’s hypoallergenic and non comedogenic so it doesn’t clog your pores and cause nasty break outs. I have very sensitive skin so I’m quite wary of new products, assuming I’ll go blotchy and spotty after one use. Nope, just smooth, plump, hydrated skin.

So as sad as my bank balance will be that I’ve added yet another product to my must have list, my skin is jumping for joy.

Escentuals are offering up to 1/3rd off their French category for the whole of March, including the Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum.

Here’s a little break down of the bargains to be had:

Vichy, La Roche-Posay, and Nuxe at 33% off RRP
Caudalie at 20% off RRP
A-Derma at 10% off RRP

So, yeah, I went a bit nuts with this offer. I was good though and added some goodies to my basket for Mum which she’ll be getting on Mother’s Day. I was also really impressed with the level of communication from order to delivery which only took a couple of days (and was free!). Keep an eye out next week for reviews of the products from my additional Escentual haul.

Possibly the longest post ever. And for a product I never thought I needed. How very, very wrong I was.

Have you tried a serum? What did you think?

  2. Well stay tuned Lucy! I have my mum testing out some products for dry skin as we speak. From the several texts a day telling me how wonderful they are I think it's going to be good haha
