Review: Sanctuary Face Masks

I picked up these Sanctuary Spa face masks in Boots the other day on a 3 for 2 offer so I thought the only sensible thing to do would be to get one of each and share my thoughts.

Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask £2.50

This is my favourite of the three. After spending a couple of days working in London my skin was looking a dull and clogged. This is a charcoal thermal mask so it self heats on application. I expected the texture to be more like a clay mask. This has a gel like texture that doesn't have the same drying, cracking effect. The warming sensation is a bit odd to begin with. Not unpleasant at all, just a little strange. I left this on for a little longer than the recommended 5 minutes (I like to fill my face mask time with YouTube Beauty videos so I lost track). I rinsed my face and then used a face wash to remove any excess. Having quite sensitive skin my main concerns were that this would cause some irritation or break me out.

Well ladies and gentlemen it did not. I was left with smooth, fresh, clean, glowing skin. This didn't dry my skin at all and frankly I can't remember the last time my skin looked this good. Such an amazing mask, I will definitely be purchasing the full size version come pay day.

Sanctuary Spa Time Reversal Facial Mask £2.99

Being in my twenties I don't yet feel as though I need to be slathering on anti ageing products but I thought I'd give it a go anyway. This has a lovely luxurious thick moisturiser texture. It's pale pink, which I rather liked and although definitely noticeable the floral scent is pretty without being over powering. I slathered this all over my face and left it on for about 20 minutes. You can also use this as an overnight treatment.

Immediately afterwards and the next day my skin definitely felt more hydrated and a little plumper. As for the anti ageing effect though I couldn't say.

Sanctuary Spa Moisture Boosting Mask £2.50

Over the last couple of weeks my skin seems to have become a little less combination and a little more dehydrated. Whether that's because I've been spending so much time in air conditioned offices or because I haven't been drinking enough water I couldn't tell you.

The Moisture Boosting Mask seemed like just the thing to give my skin a little treat last night. This is such a thick white cream - like the emollient cream you can get from the doctor. You can also leave this one on as an overnight treatment. Miraculously ten minutes later this had completely sunk into my skin with no greasy film. Ladies, if you're at home all day you could easily slap this on while you have a bit of a potter around the house and no one would be any the wiser.

My skin does feel smoother and a little plumper although the results aren't quite as noticeable as I'd hoped. If you do suffer from dry skin though I'd recommend you give this a go and maybe use it as the overnight treatment instead of the recommended ten minutes.

I should also mention that you could get two applications out of each sachet if you tried. I obviously went all gungho and slathered my face in the stuff but there's still enough in each one for a spot application.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Leave me a comment if you're a fan of any of these masks and please let me know if you have any more face mask recommendations!

  5. I checked out my nearest store for these face masks, but couldn't find them. Maybe they didn't have any in stock. Thanks for the post. I'll have to keep trying to see if they will stock them! :) x
