Sunset Cocktails at Amanyara

Amanyara Turks and Caicos
Have you ever dreamed of going to a secluded tropical island and living like a celebrity for a night?
Amanyara Turks and Caicos is one of the most exclusive resorts in the world. Even to go to the bar we had to go through two security check points and do a bit of name dropping. As it turns out Becca is a bit of a local celebrity.

Amanyara is both pure luxury and extreme zen. The Japanese architectural influences are clear. The black tiled swimming pools sit perfectly still reflecting the sky above.

Warm light emanates from the wooden structures casting a warm golden glow.

We made ourselves comfortable next to the pool waiting for the sun to set. The waiter told us that they have the best Mojitos on the island made with Champaign instead of soda. No further convincing was required. Mojitos for the ladies and Long Island Iced Teas for the boys.

Walking into the bar I looked around thinking I'd been transported into a Pinterest board. It appeared to be completely empty. Then I realised that beds filled the space between the pillars and couples were speaking in hushed whispers.

The restaurant is stunningly beautiful. It took me a while to figure out why the resort is so quiet. No background music! Even the restaurant is a world of peace and calm. No one rushing by, no clatter of cutlery, no loud chatting. A strange stillness surrounded us, more like a Buddhist temple than a holiday resort.

Amanyara is a resort like no other. Calm, still and serene it provides the perfect surroundings to escape your frenzied every day life.

Notable guests include Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. If you're thinking this place looks familiar its probably because it was used in the film Turks and Caicos starring Bill Nighey, Helena Bonham Carter and Winona Rider. In fact Sam was sitting in the background of one of the scenes.
